transformer series connection

Connecting the windings in series would give double the voltage of each but the same current.

Voltages in series add up but the maximum current through each winding was 1A and this cannnot be increased as current drawn from the transformer will flow through both windings.

 
transformer parallel connection

Connecting the windings in parallel would give the same voltage but double the current capapbility.

Voltages in parallel would remain the same but 1A can be drawn from each of the windings thus giving a maxiumum of 2A,
